AUTISM ASSESSMENTS

For Your Child

I provide comprehensive autism assessments to help determine whether a child's unique way of experiencing the world aligns with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Autism isn't just a diagnosis; it's a different way of being in the world. Children with autism often process sensory information, social cues, and communication differently than their neurotypical peers. Some children might struggle with back-and-forth conversations or reading facial expressions. Others might find comfort in consistent routines or develop deep, focused interests in specific topics. The experience of autism varies widely from person to person… hence the term "spectrum."

As someone who has worked extensively with families in rural communities, I understand that pursuing an autism assessment can feel overwhelming and inaccessible. But I also know that having clarity can bring immense relief and open doors to understanding and support.

When done thoughtfully, an autism assessment does more than just provide a diagnosis; it helps identify your child's unique strengths alongside their challenges. This balanced understanding becomes the foundation for meaningful recommendations and interventions. Additionally, a formal diagnosis can help your family access provincial funding and support services that might otherwise remain out of reach.

Throughout this process, I promise to listen carefully to your observations and concerns. You know your child best, and your insights are invaluable to creating a complete picture. Together, we'll work toward understanding your child's needs and creating a path forward that honours who they are while supporting their growth and development.

For Adults

Many adults have an internal knowing that something about their experiences is unique. They may have struggled with building friendships, meeting new people, or navigating the world with sensory overwhelm but their struggles may have been minimized or completely missed. Especially for women, a unique presentation of autism can mean falling through the cracks during school and maybe even into adulthood.

Through a comprehensive adult autism assessment, individuals can find a tremendous amount of self-discovery and validation.
